Greek basketball player Nik Kalates ended up in the hospital after the match against Spain due to a rib injury, the Greek Olympic Committee announced today.
Kalates received a strong elbow blow during the match, so he had to be examined.
X-rays and ultrasounds were performed on him and it was determined that there were no fractures, but that there was damage to the soft tissues and the area between the ribs.
It has not been announced whether Kalates will be available to head coach Vasilis Spanulis for the last match of Group A against Australia.
Spain beat Greece today 84:77. In the third round, Spain will play against Canada, and Greece against Australia.
