The third-ranked tennis player in the world, Spaniard Karlos Alkaras, qualified for the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games in Paris, after defeating Russian Roman Safijulin 6:4, 6:2 after two sets.
Alkaras defeated the 66th player on the ATP list after one hour and 30 minutes.
He broke his opponent's serve four times, allowing one break on the other side.
In the quarterfinals, Alkaras will play against American Tomi Polo.
Earlier today, Novak Đoković, Stefanos Tsicipas and Lorenzo Muzeti also made it to the top eight.
