Spanish tennis player Carlos Alkaras qualified for the semi-finals of the Olympic Games in Paris, after defeating the 13th player in the world, the American Tommy Polo, after two sets, 6:3, 7:6.
The third tennis player in the world celebrated after two hours.
In the sixth game of the first set, Alkaras took Pol's serve, kept the advantage of the break until the end and took the lead in the match.
Pol played better in the rest, leading 4:1 and 5:2, but the Spanish tennis player managed to win a tiebreak.
Alkaras had up to two points advantage, but Pol did not use the set ball with the score 7:6. The Spaniard stepped up after that, won three consecutive points and after the second match point advanced to the semi-finals.
His opponent in the semi-finals will be the winner of the duel between Norwegian Kasper Rud and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassim.
Among the top four is Lorenzo Muzetti, who defeated the current German Olympic champion Alexander Zverev 7:5, 7:5 in two sets.
The Italian will play in the semi-finals against the better of the duel Novak Djokovic - Stefanos Tsicipas.
