Marilejdi Paulino from the Dominican Republic won the gold medal in the 400 meters and broke the Olympic record after 28 years.
Paulino is also the official world champion, and in Paris she triumphed in a time of 48,15 seconds.
After the suspension, Salva Eid Naser returned to the podium, finishing the race in second place with a score of 48,53 seconds.
European champion Natalija Kačmarek won bronze (48,98).
