Paris is the center of the world, was one of the messages of the organizers during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
It will be the center of sports events until August 11, but it is difficult to circle the planet - this is not a subjective conclusion, but a reality from the point of view of the French, specifically restaurateurs who saw in the organization of the OI a real chance to profit in the summer months.
And after seven days, it's time for a cross-section, so you can see with the naked eye that, although there are tourists on every corner and in every part of Paris, they haven't filled the hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, clubs...
That it is a disaster - it is not, but there is noticeable dissatisfaction, despite the fact that restaurateurs and hoteliers claim that because of the Olympic Games, they have even lowered their prices compared to the earlier period of this year.
- Everyone is now wondering what the Olympic Games brought to Paris. So far, this is not what we expected. As you can see at any time of the day, the restaurants are not full, they are empty - the owner of the restaurant near the hotel where the Montenegrin journalists are staying told us.
Some things are understandable, but...
- In Paris, you always count on the fact that the locals are not in the city during the summer, but many say that the month of July was the worst for us restaurateurs in the last twenty years. Even in the year of the coronavirus, it was not worse, because the delivery of food and drinks worked practically 24 hours a day.
This is not, of course, the rule during the Olympic Games. It is difficult, however, even if it is an incident, because in recent days the local media have written about the fact that even the famous Disneyland is deserted, where there is nothing.
Prices in hotels and restaurants skyrocketed in anticipation of the Games, and now the trend seems to be changing so that Paris can save what can be saved.
Thus, hotels reduced the prices of overnight stays during the Olympic Games to an average and decent 230 to 260 euros. Almost a hundred fewer (342) than those interested in coming to Paris during the OI had to choose on average at the end of June or at the very beginning of July.
