Spanish footballer Sergio Ramos has signed a one-year contract with Monterrey, the Mexican club announced.
The 38-year-old defender is thus returning to football after May 2024, when he last played for Sevilla.
Ramos will play alongside former teammates Lucas Ocampos, Sergio Canales and Oliver Torres in Monterrey. He will wear the number 93 shirt, in memory of his equalizing goal in the 2014 Champions League final, when he led Real Madrid to extra time against Atletico Madrid and then to the European title.
He started his career in Sevilla, then played for Real Madrid for 16 years. He then played for Paris Saint-Germain, and last season he played for his parent club.
Ramos is considered one of the best defenders in the history of football, and during his career he won 25 titles, including the 2010 World Cup, two European Championships in 2008 and 2012, four Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles and two French League titles.
