After long negotiations, Rahim Sterling agreed to extend his cooperation with Manchester City until the summer of 2023!
His current contract expired in a year and a half, but after the great last season of his life (23 goals), Pep Guardiola did not want to take any risks, so he told sports director Ćiki Begiristajn to finish the job as soon as possible.
"It is known that I am delighted with what Rahim is achieving. And of course we want to continue cooperation with him. The club knows how I think, so we are working on it," Guardiola said recently.
The most serious island media, such as BBC and Sky, report that the contract will be initialed in the coming weeks, most likely during the upcoming international break, and that Sterling will become the highest paid British footballer of all time.
Namely, the guy born in Jamaica will become the third highest paid player in the Premier League with around 300.000 pounds per week, i.e. 345.000 euros. 82 million euros in five years, and with bonuses it could be over 100 million!
Only Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will earn more than him in the Premier League.
