The men's volleyball team of Montenegro advanced 10 positions in the ranking of the World Volleyball Federation.
Our seniors are now tied for 39th place (with Kazakhstan, Thailand, Guatemala and Algeria) with 12 points.
The first position is occupied by Brazil with 315 points, the United States of America is second with 300, and the third is Italy with 266 points.
The women's national team of Montenegro remained tied for 66th place, with 18 more selections, with seven points.
First is Serbia (322 points), world and European champion, and Olympic vice-champion, second is China (320), and third is the United States of America (256).
The latest FIVB rankings are also important because of the Intercontinental qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which will take place in August 2019.
Senior women will play the qualifying tournament from August 2 to 4, and senior men from August 9 to 11.
In the Intercontinental Qualifications, the 24 best selections from the FIVB ranking will play, excluding Japan, the host of the Olympic Games, in both competitions.
According to the serpentine system, six groups will be determined, in which four teams will play each, and only the winner will qualify for the 2020 OI (July 24 - August 9).
The FIVB also announced that five Continental tournaments will take place in January 2020, and that at least four teams that did not qualify for the OI will play in them.
Applications for the organization of Intercontinental tournaments are submitted to the World Volleyball Federation by December 14, and the FIVB will announce the composition of the groups on January 1, 2019.
It was announced that on January 31, 2019, the hosts of the tournament, as well as the schedule of matches, will be announced.
