Victory over Zadar (89:81), the sailors have taken a big step towards survival in the ABA league, because seven rounds before the end they have two points more than Krka, and one each from Olimpija, Igokea and Zadran.
Baran coach Mihailo Pavićević, however, regrets that his team did not beat Partizan in Belgrade last week and points out that in that case he would have played in the playoffs again. He did not fail to mention that the defeat was undeserved.
"We have everything in our hands and it feels good. I don't follow other results, I don't do any calculations. As the defeat against Partizan was hard for us, this victory came at the right moment, against a direct competitor. I never whine about anything, but I'm sorry for the defeat against Partizan, if you can call it that, because in my opinion we won that game. With that victory, Mornar would be in the top four again," said the experienced expert.
Barani played several very exciting games in "Topolica" this season, but this time there were no dilemmas.
"There were difficult games for the fans in Barz this season, now after a long time we played a good match and controlled it from the beginning. There were crashes in the game, but nothing catastrophic. We were focused, and it's completely different when you have time to do a complete weekly training cycle. Everything is easier, because after being eliminated from the Eurocup, we raised the level of our game," said Pavićević.
Zadran coach Ante Nazor admitted that his team had no chance against a better opponent.
"In the first half, we played well, but we did some stupid things and allowed the opponent to score 17 points from the counter attack. In the second half, we defended poorly, and Mornar showed exceptional individual quality and handled one-on-one situations very well," said Nazor.
