Fenerbahce ace Nikola Kalinic said that he was hurt that Serbian coach Aleksandar Đorđević left him out of the World Cup roster.
Đorđević shocked the public when he announced that Kalinić, along with Nemanja Nedović, would not be included in the short list of national team members for the trip to China.
The great basketball winger was initially without comment, but now he spoke up during an interview.
"Like any young man who wants to compete, I was a bit hurt by being left off the list. Again, as someone who had a long season and hasn't had a summer off for five years, I got two months of unexpected vacation time. I set it up as a situation in which I don't lose," Kalinic said in an interview with the BBC in Serbian, and as the only objection to Đorđević, he mentioned that the selector did not call him before the publication of the list, but only after that.
What recently caused numerous reactions to Kalinic's account was his position on Kosovo, as well as comments regarding the relationship between Belgrade and Pristina.
"At no point did I say that we should hand over Kosovo, but find a solution and turn to the future." But well, it's always good to divert attention from something else to Kalin the traitor," added the former Red Star player.
Despite everything, he doesn't show too much concern.
"The most important thing is that I am honest with myself, that I am clean. If I'm lucky, one day I'll raise my children that way. I paid a small price for the satisfaction I have," stated Kalinić.
