Lakers basketball player Dwight Howard announced that the mother of his six-year-old son died on March 27 from an epileptic attack.
Melissa Rios was 31 years old, and she and Howard had a six-year-old son, David.
"Some things that happen in life are hard to explain. My son's mother passed away a month and a half ago. It's incredibly hard for me, I don't know how to explain to David what happened," said Howard.
Howard has four other children with another wife.
"Please - enjoy every moment of life, appreciate what you have and being able to spend time with loved ones," said Howard.
He is currently in Georgia and does not know when he will join his teammates, who should begin individual training, ahead of the possible continuation of the NBA season.
