Luka Dončić is not playing as well as last season, and Dallas is not doing well either, but the fans chose - according to them, the Slovenian deserved a place in the starting line-up of the West at the all-star match on March 7.
Dončić, however, admits that it should have been different.
"I didn't expect to be a starter. I think Demijan Lillard deserved that spot, but in a few years you forget who was in the first five, it's important who participated. And Lillard will definitely be there," Doncic said.
This season, he has 28.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game, his Dallas is ninth in the West (14-15).
Lillard plays brilliantly - 29.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.9 assists, and leads the Blazers in the absence of two injured members of the five, C.J. McCallum and Jusuf Nurkic.
Portland is fifth with a record of 18-12.
Dončić will play with Steph Curry, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and Nikola Jokić in the all-star match.
The East's first team includes Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Bradley Beal and Kyrie Irving.
