How Nikola Vučević is playing in the NBA this season may be best expressed by the words of the great coach Erik Spolstra.
After the match with Orlando, which his team won 102:97, Miami's coach compared Vučević to the best European player of all time, Dirk Nowicki.
"Vucevic has improved a lot, and this is the season of his career. He's been great for years, but especially this one. It's like watching a modern-day Dirk Nowicki. He literally does everything, he knows how to move before you can cover him," said Spolstra.
Vucevic scored 38 points against Miami.
Spolstra's words surprised Vucevic.
"Me as Dirk Nowitzki? That's one of the nicest things someone has said to me. Spolstra is one of the best coaches, he's led greats like Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and LeBron James, and now he's coaching great players. It means a lot to me to hear him say that talks about me. It shows that he respects me and what I do. I don't really know if I'm a modern Dirk, but I'll accept it. I won't complain," said Vucevic.
