Basketball players from Podgorica defeated Helios 95:90 tonight in the "balloon" at Zlatibor at the start of the season in the ABA2 league.
After an even 1st half (39:39), Podgorica made a difference in the 3rd quarter, gained 13 extra points and recorded its first victory.
"The deciding factor was the 3rd quarter, where we strengthened our defense, had a good run. I'm satisfied with the victory, but not with the ratio. In the last quarter, we went into a rush, with uncertain passes, without great organization, which Helios was able to take advantage of. The first match - great nervousness. I congratulate the players on the victory," Podgorica coach Nebojša Bogavac said after the match.
Nikola Janković and Marko Kovačević stood out in the winning team. Janković finished the match with 28 points, eight rebounds, with a utility index of 27, while Kovačević finished the match with 21 points, six rebounds and three steals, which brought him an index of 26.
"Janković showed that he is a player who is worth it. There is no need to waste words on him. He talks on the field. He had a good episode," said Bogavac.
In the next round, Podgorica will play Borce from Banja Luka on Wednesday.
"I hope that the match will be better and of better quality. That we won't make mistakes," concluded the coach of Podgorica.
