Basketball players from Lovcen were defeated today by Helios 94:80 in the first match of the ABA2 "balloon" in Osijek.
By the way, this is the first defeat for the people of Cetinje in the regional competition, after they recorded both victories in Zlatibor the previous month.
Helios was a better rival today and deservedly celebrated. The Slovenian team led from the beginning of the match, and reached its biggest advantage at the end of the match when it was plus 19 - 94:75.
"Helios' well-deserved victory. They came into the match stronger, had 20 more rebounds... This was followed by a large number of our turnovers and many of their easy points from transition. The result may be too high, we caught a couple of connections, but in general we did not deserve nor to threaten them," said Lovcen coach Petar Jovanović after the match.
Mugoša and Clarence were the most effective at Lovcen with 15 points each. Clarence also had 12 assists for a utility rating of 22.
Perović finished the match with 14, Kusovac scored 12, Washington 11, and Novović 10 points.
In the winning team, Leon Šantelj stood out with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Blaž Mahkovic finished the match with 20 points, five rebounds and four assists.
