At the start of the season, few people saw Golden State as a favorite, or even a serious candidate for a championship ring in the NBA.
Days, months passed, the Warriors proved little by little that this is a season in which serious attention must be paid to them. Because if nothing else - the habit of winning was obvious, with Steph Curry, Draymond Green and the returning Klay Thompson, players who already had three rings... When the roles were distributed and Steve Kerr launched Jordan Poole, Kevon Looney, Andrew Wiggins, Otto Porter..., the "warriors" turned into a real warrior team.
The award arrived on the night between Thursday and Friday - they defeated Boston away 103:90 and with 4:2 in the final series reached the seventh title in the history of the franchise
"Nothing matters anymore except that we find a way to do it again, to be the best," Curry said.
Kari scored 6 points in Game 34 and is the MVP of the finals.
"This is part of our championship pedigree, the experience we've gained, because we've been building something big for 10-11 years. When you get to this stage, to the fight for the title, that experience is priceless," said Kari.
For Curry, Thompson, Green and Andre Iguodala, this is the fourth ring - after 2015, 2017 and 2018.
"Each of them is unique and I don't need to mention how much influence they have on this team. Of all the titles we won, this one is probably the most specific. I can't say if it's my favorite, because they all came after fantastic releases." says coach Steve Kerr.
Golden State became the third most successful NBA franchise with its seventh ring. Boston missed the chance to become the most trophy-winning, remaining at 17 titles, the same number as the LA Lakers.
Until now, the Warriors shared third place with the Chicago Bulls, and they won their first title in the 1946/47 season. as one of the original NBA teams.
A group of investors from San Francisco later, after the 1961/62 season, bought the franchise and moved the team that became known as the San Francisco Warriors. In 1971, there was a move to Oakland and a new name - Golden State, so that the Warriors would return to San Francisco after 48 years.
"For me, this title is different knowing what we have been through in the last three years. There were many injuries, heavy defeats, lineup changes, arrivals of young guys that we had to introduce into the system...", Kari said.
For Kerr, this is the ninth ring in his career, the fourth in his coaching career, while he has five as a player (four with Chicago, one in San Antonio). With four rings, he is sixth on the list of coaches with the most trophies - behind Phil Jackson (11), Red Oerbach (nine), John Kundla, Gregg Popovich and Pat Riley (five each).
