The Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović handed a Montenegrin passport to basketball legend Vlado Divac today.
Divac was given a Montenegrin passport at the personal suggestion of Abazović.
"It is a great honor and pleasure for us to have the opportunity to present a Montenegrin passport to the legend of world basketball, such as Vlade Divac," said Abazović.
Divac has been living in Luštica for a couple of years.
Abazović's office announced that Divac thanked him for the granted passport and pointed out that this means a lot to him emotionally, "stating that his ancestors come from Montenegro and that considering that he spent the last few years mostly in Luštica, Montenegro for it represents another house."
Vlade Divac is a basketball legend. He played for Sloga, Partizan, Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets and Sacramento Kings, and for a short time in Crvena Zvezda. He won the Yugoslav league with Partizan.
He performed with great success for the national team of Yugoslavia. He won gold medals at the world championships in 1990 and 2002 and bronze in 1986.
He was European champion in 1989, 1991 and 1995. He won bronze in 1987 and 1999.
He also performed at the Olympic Games and has silver from Seoul in 1998 and Atlanta in 1996.
