After defeats by Hamburg Towers and Paris, and a magical victory over Promiteas, the Buducnost Volija basketball players finally reached the points in "Morača" in the Eurocup without much excitement.
Although they had a bad start, in the 1st quarter they had minus eight on three occasions, and then in the 3rd quarter a big drop, Vladimir Jovanović's team defeated Trento 73:58.
The awakening began with the entry of Igor Drobnjak after exactly eight minutes of the game, after Derion Atkins' point for 15:7.
The Montenegrin representative immediately assisted Cameron Reynolds for a three-pointer, Aleksandar Lazić, Petar Popović and Marko Jagodić-Kuriža also played, so Budućnost made the series 2:27 for 4:37 at the end of the first and until the middle of the second quarter.
Jagodić-Kuriža returned a record plus 15 twice, already in the 1st half he reached a double-digit number of points (11), which he did not manage in any complete game of the Eurocup this season (his record was nine against Šljonsk).
Nothing hinted at excitement, but, unfortunately, there were already at the start of the sequel.
The Blues suddenly stopped playing for the number of times this season, relied on individual actions, missed everything they kicked, so the Italian team opened the 3rd quarter with 11:0 and reduced the score to 42:40.
Trento had an attack with that score to equalize or reverse, so that Jagodić-Kuriža, with the sound of the siren for the end of the attack, finally broke the fast of his team after four minutes and 40 seconds of the game in the 2nd half.
Soon, the Serbian representative hit a three-pointer for 47:40, and in the first minute of the last quarter he made a layup for 58:46.
It seemed that everything was over, but the Italian representative approached at 58:54 and forced Jovanovic to take the second time-out in the 2nd half with five minutes and 56 seconds left.
From that moment on, the home team played better in defense and received only four points until the end, so that Drobnjak, with two three-pointers, brought a big plus 15 in the end.
Jagodić-Kuriža was the most effective with 20 points, Drobnjak scored 15, and captain Popović scored 11.
Etkins (16), Trent Lokit (14), Diego Flacadori (12) and Toto Foraj (10) had a double-digit performance for the visitors.
With this victory, Bućnost tied at the top of Group B with Gran Canaria and Turk Telekom, who also have a score of 5:2.
It is with them that the "blues" play the next two matches in the second-tier European competition - next week they visit the islands that geographically belong to Africa, and in 14 days they welcome the team from Ankara.
They will probably be joined on the throne by Paris, who have a convincing advantage against Śląsk in Wrocław.
