The debut of the "new" Future

The second part of the regular course of the Admiralbet ABA League is opened by Buducnost Volija basketball players, who visit Split tonight (17:14 p.m.) in the first match of the XNUMXth round.

Vladimir Jovanović's team tied four wins in the regional competition, stayed in the game for home field advantage in the quarterfinals of the playoffs, because they have more defeats than FMP, two against Cedevit Olimpija and Partizan, and three against Red Star. Two big reinforcements, Eric Green and JJ O'Brien, who came in place of Phil Booth and Aaron White, will make their debut for the "blues" at Gripi. Players who have proven themselves in Europe will be great reinforcements for the 2018 champions, and if they fit in the right way, Buducnost could go far in both the ABA League and the Eurocup.

- A demanding match awaits us. We have to be up to par in defense if we want to play well. We played well against Borec and we should continue in the same rhythm - said Jovanović.

Split was defeated by Crvena zvezda in the previous round, and played well for most of the match. Before that, the team defeated direct competitors for survival - Mega and MZT, but lost to Borca, so it has a score of 4:9, as does Mornar.

- Split played good basketball in the previous period. He lost some games, but also played surprisingly well. He greatly raised the quality of the game. Against Zvezda, he played three quarters very well - the 49-year-old Čačan is cautious.

In the home of the three-time European champion, fans will see Green and O'Brien in action for the first time.

- We have to fit them in as soon as possible. Everything can be very good, but the adjustment period could be challenging and bring surprise factors. I hope, however, that there won't be any - concluded Jovanović.

At the opening of the season, Buducnost defeated the "yellows" in "Morača" 94:59, last season they won 72:61 in Dalmatia, but the game from January 9, 2021, when Split triumphed 78:77, calls for caution. At that time, the "blues", admittedly, had big problems with the coronavirus, which is why they were defeated by Sani Champara's unreal three-pointer. Now they must not allow a surprise, so as not to lose pace behind the leading four.

- Every game is important. In the first round, we dropped some points, so in the second round, victory is an obligation in every match. Split has two good players - Mavra and Shorter. The most important thing is to stop them - Tre Bel-Haynes is clear.
