In the previous round of the Admiralbet ABA League, the Sailors' basketball players defeated MZT and achieved an important victory in the fight for survival. Barani are currently in a good position, they have six wins and 12 losses, two triumphs more, but also two games less than the Macedonian team, i.e. a match less than Borac from Čačany - they are the most threatened teams when it comes to survival in the regional competition.
Mornar will try to take another step towards a peaceful harbor tomorrow (20), in Belgrade against Mega. The matches of these clubs were very interesting before, and even tomorrow's, within the 20th round, can bring another spectacle.
"This representative break has come in handy, but now we need to react in the right way. Mega is a young team that has been nurturing a very fast, attacking game for years. With quality defense, we can hope for a good result that would almost certainly separate us from the last position until the end of the season," said the coach of Sailors, Mihailo Pavićević, in the announcement of the match.
In the first match between these teams, Mega won 101:85 in "Topolica".
"Mega is an extremely demanding team. They shoot from all positions, they have every position well covered, and we saw that in the first match when they defeated us in our "Topolica". We have to limit mistakes and play a very disciplined defense", said Nemanja Vranješ .
Mega has registered five victories in the last six matches in the ABA League. They lost to Partizan, but defeated SC Derbi, Cibona, Zadar, Igokea and FMP. In three of the five games they won, they scored over 100 points. The team also played in the final of the Radivoj Korac Cup, where they lost to Crvena zvezda.
"After a long break, a new challenge awaits us in the ABA league. After a good result at the Radivoje Korać Cup, a large number of players went to the national teams, or on forced rest due to injuries. Our game depends a lot on the level of training, and it is certain that because of all this, the preparation for the game is a bit more difficult for us. Mornar is a team that, compared to the first game, has been strengthened with five quality players. With an experienced coach and a wide roster, they are a tough opponent for everyone. In order to stop their outstanding scorers and get into a position to win, we have to play with great energy and focus," said Mega coach Marko Barać.
Mega is chasing the playoffs, and with a possible triumph, they would get even closer to that position. It is currently 8-11, Split, which is in eighth place, is 8-12.
"We have a chance to reach the playoffs, so we need a win to boost our confidence before the final part of the league season. We know what awaits us against a very difficult team of Sailors and we will do everything to continue with good results in the ABA league," said Mega basketball player Malcolm Casalon.
