Buducnosti basketball players lost to Borec in the penultimate match of the regular part of the AdmiralBet ABA League (87:85).
This defeat did not disturb anything in the standings, Podgorica from third place are going to the playoffs, but coach Vladimir Jovanović knows that such failures are practically forbidden.
"I was expecting a very difficult game after Ulm. The players showed a reaction in training and a desire to play well, but that was not enough for tonight. I feel sorry for the team and the audience, even though this defeat did not change anything in the standings. We should not have this is how we end the league, even though we have that match with Partizan. Everything that happened in the past period, with the guest schedule, certainly left its mark," said Jovanović.
Elimination from the Eurocup, Wednesday's loss to Ulm in Germany, clearly remained on the players' minds.
"Victory heals everything, defeats open wounds. There was little time between the match in Germany and this one, and there was a huge desire against Ulm. We were burnt out, we transferred that to the duel with Borce and we certainly did not use that nervousness in the right way. And I was hoping that we would...", said Jovanović.
The future turns to the playoffs of the ABA League and the domestic championship.
"Now we need to move to the second track after being relegated from the Eurocup, and a break would certainly suit us. And our toughest rival is waiting for us - Partizan is currently playing the best basketball in the Euroleague," the Serbian expert pointed out.
Čačani are satisfied, they had to win to avoid relegation and they did that.
Now they turn to the barrage.
"What we went through in the last two or three weeks are the most difficult moments in my life and career. I'm from Čačany, I played in that club, it's the city of basketball and this was a big responsibility for us. We endured everything to leave our hearts on the court and all honor to the players. We haven't done anything yet, this is the first small step towards survival. Now we have to show ourselves in the playoffs," said coach Dejan Mijatović.
"It is not easy to come and do everything to win Buducnost, which is exceptional and will have a serious role in the playoffs of the ABA league. That game against Ulm, where Buducnost dominated, contributed to her emotionally drained playing this game. We had to let's try to take advantage of that, to play the right way and we succeeded," Mijatović concluded.
