The future Italian national team player who was born in the United States of America, Paolo Bankero, was declared the rookie of the year in the strongest league in the world.
He received 98 of 100 first-place votes, finishing ahead of Oklahoma's Jaylen Williams and Utah's Walker Kessler.
Bankero averaged 20 points, 6,9 rebounds and 3,7 assists in his first NBA season and played 72 games.
The last rookie of the year who played for a national team outside the USA was Luka Dončić in the 2018/19 season.
