The women's basketball team of Montenegro will play the last match of the group stage of the European Championship against Latvia tomorrow (11.15:XNUMX a.m., broadcast by TV News).
After the initial victory over Greece, Jelena Škerović's team lost to Spain last night. At one point, Montenegro came close to minus one against the "fury", tormented the favorite, but eventually lost.
Montenegro would secure the second stage by winning against Latvia, but also in case of defeat, if Spain defeats Greece.
If Montenegro and Greece win in the last round, our selection would go directly to the quarterfinals as the first-placed team in the group.
"Against Greece, we achieved an important victory, while against Spain we were a little short, we were one point behind. We younger players also got a chance and I think we showed that we can, that we are part of the team. The coach's trust means a lot to me, that I can I play games like this, against basketball players who play in strong leagues. We're going to win against Latvia, we'll see what happens," said Ksenija Šćepanović.
Maja Bigović says that the team will do their best in tomorrow's match against Latvia.
"It is a great honor for me to be here, for the first time with the senior national team. I had a lot to learn - both from my teammates and from other teams. Against Greece, we showed that we can do it, we did our best. Against Spain, we showed character and that we can play with everyone. The result is not realistic, but what is - it is there. It is another lesson. We have a day of rest, time to prepare. We enter the match concentrated. We will do our best," said Bigović.
A big reinforcement for Montenegro in this competition is Nataša Mek. The American played both matches well.
"I think we played well in the first two games. We are a young team, we stick together. Against Latvia, I expect us to win. We will do our best. We saw in this group that everyone can beat everyone. I feel like a Montenegrin, I was well received." , said Mack.
