San Antonio coach Greg Popovic signed a new contract with the Spurs. According to ESPN journalist Edrijan Vojnarovski, the contract was concluded for five years, and according to its clauses, the 74-year-old specialist will receive more than 80 million dollars.
The contract is a cap hit, as Detroit recently signed Monty Williams to a six-year, $78,5 million deal.
It is also claimed that Popović will receive all the contracted money even if he terminates the coach's contract, since he also holds the position of president of basketball operations in the franchise.
Popović is the NBA record holder for the number of career wins - 1.366.
This summer, Popovic managed to hire the young French center Victor Vembanyama from the first position of the draft, and estimates are that it is the best first pick since LeBron James in 2003.
