Latvian basketball player Kristaps Porzingis has confirmed that he will miss the upcoming World Cup due to a foot injury.
The Boston basketball player wrote in a post on social networks that the decision was made jointly by the medical team and the professional staff of the national team, as well as the Celtics team - with advice and the opinion that it is necessary to continue the recovery process.
"It's not an easy decision to make, but I promise to be there to support the team as much as I can," Porzingis wrote.
Latvia's basketball players will play in Group H with Canada, Lebanon and France at the World Cup.
The World Cup will be held from August 25 to September 10 in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
