Latvia's basketball players qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Cup, after beating Brazil 104:84 (22:20, 23:22, 36:21, 23:21) in Jakarta today, in the second round of Group L.
Latvia was led by Andrejs Gražulis with 24 points and five assists, and Arturs Žagaras added 17 points. Former Partizan players Davis Bertans and Rodions Kuruc participated in the victory with 14 and seven points, respectively.
In the Brazilian team, Bruno Caboclo was the most effective with 20 points with seven rebounds, Jago Santos scored 14 points, and Lucas Dias scored 13 points with seven rebounds.
In its first participation in the World Cup, Latvia qualified for the quarter-finals, where it will play either against Slovenia or against Germany.
Latvia finished the group stage with four wins and a loss, and Brazil with three wins and two losses.
