A few weeks after parting with Dimitris Itoudis, the Basketball Association of Greece will get a new coach.
And that will be the legendary Vasilis Spanulis, Sport 24 first reported, and the information was then confirmed by the SDNA agency.
The agreement was reached, Spanulis accepted the offer of president Vangelis Liolis, so the information will be officially published tomorrow. The association needs a leader around whom the team can rally, so that is one of the reasons why the choice fell on Spanulis, who has a great relationship with the first star of the team, Janis Adetokunba.
Spanulis is first expected to qualify for the Eurobasket in February next year, and then also qualify for the Olympic Games. Greece will submit a bid to host one of the four qualifying tournaments.
Spanulis started his coaching career in Peristeri last season.
