Twenty days before the start of the NBA season, Chicago's preparations began. Nikola Vucevic will again be one of the three superstars in the Bulls lineup.
The Montenegrin representative had a nice summer - he welcomed it by signing a new, three-year contract with Chicago, and ended it with an excellent performance with Montenegro at the Mundobasket.
Full of energy and enthusiasm, he enters his third season with the Bulls, and his 13th in his NBA career.
“I'm happy and excited to stay. I feel that there is still unfinished business with this team, room for us to improve and show ourselves. Also, life in Chicago suits me and my family, we like it very much, and we like stability in life."
After completing an important contract, he had an important competition with Montenegro. In the end, our team took 11th place in the world, qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris, and Vučević was the leader of our team in all matches, he showed class even in the big duel against the American selection...
“I'm very glad to have been a part of it. For a country of 600 thousand people, being 11th in the world is a great success. Most of all, I am happy because when we came back, we felt the excitement of the people, their satisfaction as we competed and represented our country, they told us how proud they were of us. That is the essence of the performance at the world championship. We also wanted to set an example for children in Montenegro who want to play basketball or other sports. I also played well, it's a shame that we didn't have a better last two minutes against America, but their quality decided", says Vucevic.
And now, it's Chicago's turn, which in the previous two seasons has not shown as much as it can, what potential it has...
"We didn't give everything we could. We want to play better, we want a better season. That's a big reason I stayed. Chicago made the trade for me, I feel a responsibility to contribute as much as I can."
In the past two seasons, Vucevic was most often the third offensive option, behind DeRozan i Levina. It is possible that the next ones will have a different role.
"I don't mean just shots and baskets, but also some playmaking abilities. Denver with Jokić, or Miami with Adebayo they use high players in the organization of the game. I think we also have a team that can function in a similar way. I think I can help in a similar role, and of course the coach will make decisions."
The Bulls will play the first match in the preseason on Sunday at 19:XNUMX, our time, against a trending team - the Milwaukee Bucks, who last Sunday made the trade of the year and brought Damian Lillard from Portland.
Chicago will welcome Oklahoma at the start of the NBA season on the night of November 25-26.
