The president of the Partizan basketball club, Ostoja Mijailović, sent an open letter to KK Maccabi on behalf of Partizan today, in which he offered the Israeli club a "temporary home" for that club in Belgrade, after the terrorist attacks and the beginning of armed conflicts in Israel.
"Dear Mr. Mizrahi (president of KK Maccabi), dear friends of KK Partizan and Serbia, in these sad moments, on behalf of Partizan, I want to express my deepest condolences to you and your people. During difficult moments, I want to say that Maccabi in Serbia has a sincere friend who is ready to offer him a new temporary home with a sincere welcome in Belgrade," said Mijailović.
He added that "athletes must continue with their activities and representing their club and country in the best possible way. Their role is to be a bright spot in gloomy days for their people."
"If your club is forced to play matches outside its country, KK Partizan is ready to provide a training hall, accommodation and a hall for playing matches. During the past more than 40 years, Maccabi and Partizan have been great rivals on the field, but all our duels always ended with congratulations and a sincere handshake, with great respect," the open letter states.
Basketball Euroleague today postponed the duel of the second round between Maccabi and Milan, which was supposed to take place on October 12 in Italy.
