Petar Mijović left Budućnost Voli late on Thursday evening, and today he said goodbye to the Podgorica club via the social network Facebook.
His third term on the "blue" bench ended after the defeat against Aris on Wednesday in the Eurocup, and Mijović made it clear in his status that the Future for him is, above all, an emotion.
"Being the coach of Buducnost is a special honor, privilege and obligation. Sitting on the bench where the great names of Yugoslav basketball were before you is a special challenge and responsibility. Standing in front of a river of fans who experience Buducnost as their own is the most special moment in a coach's life. On more than one occasion , different moments, I even returned to that bench three times. And then when the coronavirus took away from us the possibility to play for the title as the runner-up in the regular part, and then when we had to stop behind minus 40 in last year's semifinal, and now when after a great start in the ABA league, we need to make a reaction and find that one victory on the side in the Eurocup," wrote Mijović.
He added:
"Moments after victories are special, sorrows after defeats are also special. Both positive moments and all sorrows after defeats came from the same feeling and motivation: not to disappoint people who love the Future. In order for the positive moments to be longer and the sorrows to be shorter, it was important to have people around me. I had them and trusted them endlessly. With Gaša, Slavko, Marko, Suada, Vlado, Luka, Musa, Peđa, Gilet, Luka N, Boyket, doctors, every coach would want fights for "a liter of blood" Big thanks to the man who believed in me even when many didn't - club president Dragan Bokan. Endless thanks and respect to the fans. Neither Burg, Ankara nor Cluj were far from them. Thanks to the players because they made me a better coach and a better person. KK The future - uniqueness and emotion, forever," Mijović pointed out.
