Women's basketball club Budućnost Bemaks will host the final tournament of the WABA League, the Board of the regional basketball competition decided.
It was stated that the Board made the decision unanimously, so Podgorica will host the best teams of the WABA League for the third time in a row, for the sixth time in total.
The tournament will be played on March 23 and 24 in Bemax Arena.
The board of the WABA League explained the decision by the fact that Podgorica and ŽKK Budućnost Bemaks have by far the best conditions in the region and that the final tournaments in the capital of Montenegro, especially in the last two years, were a spectacle that transcends the boundaries of women's basketball.
In 2014 and 2016, the Podgorica club was the organizer of the final tournament in the Sports Center of Morača, and in 2017 in the hall of the University of Montenegro.
As in the previous two years, the final tournament will be hosted by Bemax Arena.
The director of the Podgorica club, Zoran Vujičić, said that he was satisfied with the Board's decision to award them the organization of the final tournament.
"I would like to thank the Board of the WABA League, which recognized our effort to constantly contribute to the best possible promotion of women's basketball and thus give an additional stamp to this competition. Our club owes the greatest gratitude to the general sponsor, the company Bemax, without whom all this would be unthinkable." Vujicic said.
He emphasized that Buducnost Bemaks will once again be a good host.
"Our never-younger team deserved to play the two most important matches of the season at home. As is known, we entered the season significantly rejuvenated, without major result imperatives, but as the season progressed, it turned out that the young players improved and that we were deservedly reached the situation of being first at the end of the league, and currently we have only one loss," said Vujičić.
In addition to Budućnosti, Cinkarna Celje also secured a place in the final tournament, which will defend the trophy in Podgorica. Sloga, Orlovi and Montana will fight for the other two places.
