The young club from the capital of Montenegro played for the first time in a regional competition on its floor and made that match long to be remembered.
Basketball players from Podgorica defeated Zlatibor in the first match of the quarterfinals of the playoffs of the NLB second ABA league with a big score of 113:89 (33:26, 30:15, 26:27, 24:21 after quarters).
Plus 24 from "Bemax Arena" also means that Dragan Radović's team has taken a big step towards the semi-finals, considering that the winner of the two matches is decided by the goal difference.
From the start of tonight's duel, it was clear that Radović's boys were motivated and in a great mood entering the quarter-final matches, so it sounds somewhat unreal that they hit all the first 15 shots for two points.
Podgorica continued after that with a great game, the advantage kept growing, and the biggest was plus 27 (71:44) at the beginning of the third quarter.
The most effective in the Montenegrin team were Brendon Slay with 24 and Daylen Kunz with 21 points, while Vyacheslav Petrov added 19.
On the other side, Brano Đukanović and Viktor Kovačević were better than the others with 19 points each.
The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday.
Sutjeska, our second representative in the playoffs, will play the first quarterfinal match tomorrow against Vojvodina in Nikšić.
