Basketball club Podgorica suspended captain Milutin Đukanović for unsportsmanlike behavior after the match with Zlatibor in the quarterfinals of the NLB ABA2 league.
After this decision, Đukanović will not be in the squad for the return match on Tuesday in Zlatibor (18 p.m.).
The club from Podgorica announced that after numerous praises for the organization of the first game, they were shocked by the statement of the visiting coach Strajin Nedović that Đukanović behaved unsportingly after the match.
It is also stated that Podgorica has an extremely good cooperation with Zlatibor and that they want their behavior to set an example for everyone in the ABA2 league.
"As one of the clubs with the youngest team, we were deeply disturbed that after the big victory there was more talk about things off the field than about the triumph itself. Precisely because of this, we are waiting for the position of the ABA league, which initiated the procedure, but we want to announce that captain Milutin Đukanović has been suspended by the club until the end of the season, and we will certainly respect the decision of the regional competition," the statement reads and states that "the Podgorica club wants to show that it condemns any unsportsmanlike behavior and that regardless of the final result, the image of the club comes first ".
Podgorica won 113:89 in the first match at home.
