When two giants play against each other, the spectacle is guaranteed, and it will be the same tonight (21) in the fifth, decisive match between Barcelona and Olympiakos in the quarter-finals of the Euroleague.
Tonight, Barça and Olympiakos will play their 40th match between each other in the 21st century - "Blaugrana" celebrated 24 times, Athenians 15, but it seems that it has been a long time since one of their games had such a huge stake, as tonight's has.
The Spanish team celebrated in the third match (82:80), leading 2:1, but then experienced a debacle in the fourth match (92:58), so the winner of this series will also be decided by the master.
"We are playing at home and that is a small advantage. But it does not guarantee us anything. We have to play well, as we played in three of the previous four games. Each player must know what his task is, especially in defense. Olympiakos is a team that punishes every mistake of the rival. It will be an emotional match, but the players are used to playing such matches," said Barcelona coach Roger Grimau.
For the third season in a row, Olympiakos plays the master in the quarterfinals of the Euroleague.
"Barça will certainly be motivated after the heavy defeat in the previous match. On the other hand, we know what our possibilities are. We can play against everyone. We know that this match can bring us a place in the final four. We are motivated, because this is the culmination season. We had problems with injuries and some unplanned defeats, but that is behind us now. We will be a tough opponent," said Olympiakos coach Jorgos Barcokas.
