The Montenegrin basketball team is coming to the end of the first week of preparations for the Olympic Games qualification.
Boško Radović's team started work in Podgorica last Saturday, and next week they will have two tests - against Greece (25/6) and the Bahamas (26/6) in the Acropolis Cup.
"We have been training for seven days. We are slowly bringing this first mini-cycle of preparations for the Olympic Games to an end. Every day it is getting better and better," says Igor Drobnjak.
The matches at the Akropolis Cup will be the only checks before the tournament in Riga.
"In two days, we will travel to Greece. We will have two tests there - against Greece and the Bahamas. Both selections are of high quality. These will be good tests for us before the qualifications in Riga", believes the SC Derby basketball player.
Montenegro has a historic chance in Riga. But it is known that our selection in the Baltic will be weakened, which will be an opportunity for young basketball players to prove themselves.
"We all know that the team is rejuvenated. I believe that it should be a motive for fighting, desire and will. Placement at the Olympic Games would be the crown of the quality games of the national team. But we will go game by game, so we will see what we are ready for." , Drobnjak believes.
And the first game in Riga is on the second of July with Brazil. A day later, the rival is Cameroon, while Latvia, Georgia and the Philippines are in the second group. Two selections from each group go to the semi-finals, and the winner goes to the Games in Paris.
"We are getting to know Cameroon and Brazil. They are two quality national teams. But first we are going to Greece for a preparatory tournament, which will help us a lot to see what happens next," concluded Igor Drobnjak.
The Olympic Games are scheduled from July 26 to August 11.
