Puerto Rico's basketball players defeated the Lithuanian national team last night in San Juan (79:68) and qualified for the Olympic Games.
The Puerto Rican team achieved great success, since the last time they were at the Olympic Games was in 2004 in Athens.
The team was led to victory against Lithuania by the brilliant Alvarado, who finished the game with 23 points and six rebounds. Waters finished the match with 18 points.
Among the Lithuanians, Jokubaitis was the most effective with 16 points.
After this match, the lineups of all groups at the Games are known:
GROUP A: Australia, Greece, Canada and Spain.
GROUP B: France, Germany, Japan and Brazil.
GROUP C: Serbia, South Sudan, Puerto Rico and the United States of America.
Placement in the quarterfinals will be provided by the two first-placed teams, as well as the two best third-placed selections.
The Olympic Games are scheduled from July 26 to August 11.
