Basketball players against Slovenia, Kovačević: A good opportunity to see the current possibilities before going to Mexico

The Montenegrin basketball players arrived in Zreče yesterday, where they will have the first of two tests against Slovenia today (19).

"Preparations are going really well. We are trying to implement everything we plan, and thanks to the good atmosphere we make the most of every day. We played two friendly matches against Hungary, which helped us see what we need to work on and what we need to fix, how would welcome the tournament in Mexico as readily as possible," said Bojana Kovačević, center of Montenegro, for the website of the Association.

The matches against Slovenia will be the last tests before going to Mexico.

"Slovenia is a very good national team, which we know well, and for sure these matches will benefit us a lot. Considering that these will be our last preparatory matches, we will try to fix some things, but it will certainly be a good opportunity to see the current possibilities and what is it that we need to fix before going to Mexico", emphasized Kovačević.

Montenegro will play pre-qualification for Mundobasket in Mexico from August 19 to 25. Our selection is in group B, where Mexico, New Zealand and Mozambique are.

Group A consists of: South Korea, Mali, Czech Republic and Venezuela. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, while the winner of the tournament will qualify for the World Cup.

"It will be extremely difficult, but this is a new experience for us. We are playing for the first time against selections from other continents and I hope that we will manage to make the best possible impression. The fact that this is the first time for us that we have the opportunity to play for the World Cup we feel a great motive. There are a lot of younger players, who will have some new roles and for sure they will all want to make the best possible impression," Kovačević added.
