Apart from two defeats against Slovenia (72:65, 86:57), Montenegro achieved a half-hearted performance in Podgorica in the two-match match against Hungary.
The Montenegrin basketball players first won 45:39, and then they were defeated by the Hungarians 78:52.
The pre-qualification tournament in Mexico will be played from August 19 to 25.
Montenegro's rivals in group B will be Mexico, New Zealand and Mozambique.
Korea, Mali, the Czech Republic and Venezuela are also playing in the pre-qualifications, which make up Group A.
The best two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, while the winner of the tournament will qualify for the World Cup.
