The "Dušan Đuretić" memorial basketball tournament, in memory of the tragically deceased basketball player, will be played on September 28 and 29 in Golubovci, announced the basketball club Vukovi Zeta.
The tournament will be played in the junior competition, and the participation of the teams in which Đuretić played in his career - Vukovi Zeta, All Star, Budućnost and Lovćen - has been announced.
Đuretić died in a traffic accident at the end of June 2022, on the main road Budva - Cetinje.
"His passion for basketball, dedication to the team and immense love for the game left an indelible mark in the hearts of all of us. The tournament is an opportunity to gather, to remember his achievements and to continue to live and play in the spirit he left us. Dušan was more than an inspiration and a role model for many generations," the tournament organizers said in a statement.
It is said that the energy, enthusiasm and immense support for each player makes his presence felt on and off the field.
"Dušan's name is synonymous with dedication, love for basketball and immense support for our players. Let every match of the tournament be played with the passion and dedication that Dušan always showed. In his name, we will continue to nurture the love for basketball and the spirit of community. Forever ours", the announcement reads.
The organizer of the tournament invited all basketball fans and admirers of Dušan's character and works to join and together with them pay tribute to the player who left an indelible mark on the club and the community.
