The season in the AdmiralBet ABA League continues tomorrow (21) in Novi Mesto - Petr Mijović's team visits Krka in the 5th round, led by the former coach of the "students" Dejan Jakara.
SC Derbi and Krka have played four matches so far, and the Montenegrin representative celebrated three times, while the team from Novi Mesto was better in the first clash between them, in October 2021.
"Students" recorded two victories in the regional competition this season, both at home, so the match in Novi Mesto is a new opportunity for a premier away triumph.
"Another in a series of difficult and demanding matches for our young team. Krka is a very experienced team, with very good foreigners and their performance in the first four rounds is significantly better than the one victory they have. Novo Mesto is traditionally a difficult away game and a challenge for us The boys had an excellent training week and we are optimistic about the trip to Slovenia," said SC Derbi's coach, Petar Mijović.
After three consecutive defeats, Krka registered its first victory in the previous round when it defeated Cibona in Zagreb.
"We have a very difficult away game ahead of us. Krka has changed a lot compared to last season. From match to match, they are playing better and better - they were defeated against Borac in Čačak only in the last quarter. After that, they lost in the last moments against Spartak, and now defeated Cibona in Zagreb. I think it will be most important for us to be focused from the beginning of the match. I believe that we played well in certain moments in the last game. We know how difficult it is to celebrate in Novi Mesto and that we can do it to bring the first away win back to Podgorica," said SC Derbi basketball player Igor Drobnjak.
On the Krka bench is Dejan Jakara, who left SC Derby this summer and returned to his homeland.
"I know some SC Derby players well, and they also know me well. They play aggressive and fast basketball, they run well in counterattacks. We don't have much time to prepare. But we are in a good rhythm, we are making progress... It will be a difficult game, because they have to to win. They are the favorites, but we are also going to win," said Jakraa.
