Buducnost Volija basketball players defeated Mega tonight (77:69) in the seventh round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
In the last quarter, the "Blues" broke the resistance of their rivals and reached their sixth victory in the regional competition.
"This victory is for Ksenia Pejović, the daughter of our associate from the club, to whom we wish all the best. Ksenia - hold on," Budućnost Volija coach Andrej Žakelj said at the beginning of the conference.
Žakelj pointed out that his team, when it comes to energy and focus, played the worst game tonight.
"We knew it would be a difficult match - some small problems with injuries and some things, but it's far from Albii. This is our worst match in terms of energy and focus. I think Mega used all the things we addressed in the preparation attention, but our energy and head were not in place. In the end, we got an important victory for the continuation of the season. I also have to thank the fans for their support all the best in the season," said Žakelj.
On the other hand, Mega has a score of 4-3 after tonight's match.
"I congratulate the host on the victory. After a somewhat worse game in the previous round, we had a great desire to come here and show what we have been showing since the beginning of the season, which is good basketball. I think that was the case tonight - for 36 minutes we were in tied against an outstanding team. We missed a lot of open shots in the first half. In the second half we managed to have a normal percentage. But if you want to win like this visiting, then you have to guess when you are alone," Barać said.
His team lost the jump battle halfway through the last period, which, Barać believes, was crucial.
"The verdict was that we lost the rebounding battle halfway through the last quarter, which had been fair until then. Bučudje took advantage of physicality, size, picked up offensive rebounds and punished us with easy points. I can't be dissatisfied, we will continue to work. I hope that in the future, this will be enough for something more than it was tonight," said Barać.
