Montenegrin basketball players are highly motivated and welcome the qualifying matches with Luxembourg and Bosnia and Herzegovina and want to win both matches, said wing center Bojana Kovačević.
On Thursday, the national team of Montenegro will visit Luxembourg, while three days later they will play with the selection of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bar.
By winning those matches, the women's basketball team of Montenegro would win the eighth consecutive European championship.
Kovačević said that Montenegro has the opportunity to take a key step towards another European Championship.
"We are very motivated, we want both victories and we will do our best to make it happen," Kovačević said.
She said that the pre-qualification tournament for the World Cup in Mexico meant a lot to Montenegrin basketball players.
"We had four strong games, which were a good test and a real prelude to continuing the fight for the European Championship. Thanks to the tournament in Mexico, we didn't have a break for a year, but after less than two months we are back together and that will certainly mean a lot to this young to the team," Kovačević said.
Playmaker Zorana Radonjić said that Montenegrin basketball players are aware of the importance of the upcoming games.
"I believe that we will do our best together, because we know that victories in those two matches would mean a lot to us and practically open the door to Eurobasket," said Radonjić.
The captain of Budućnost Bemaks has shown that she can play an important role in the national team, and she leads the generation of players born in 2002, who now make up the skeleton of the senior selection.
"I'm glad that we're here, that we got a chance, and we'll certainly have a great motive to justify our trust. Exactly one year ago, we achieved two victories and now we'll try to continue where we left off, because we know what it brings us. We know that we younger players, we have to have maximum access, and especially to impose ourselves with a good game in defense," said Radonjić.
She emphasized that she is proud that the national team will play in her city.
"I believe that we will have good support in Bar and that the audience will be an additional motivation for us to end this cycle with a victory," said Radonjić.
