American basketball player Jonathan Motley has agreed with the managers of Hapoel Tel Aviv to remain a member of that club, after he left the club on his own initiative at the beginning of November citing the war situation in Israel as the reason.
"After successful talks between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Jonathan Motley and his manager, it has been agreed that the player will return and be a member of the club until the end of the current season, as well as the entire next season," the Israeli club said in a statement on the X social network.
On November 1, Hapoel announced that Motli had packed his belongings and was planning to leave the club, which they stated was against the contract signed with him and that the club would take legal action accordingly.
The owner of Hapoel from Tel Aviv, Ofer Janaj, said that Motley cited the state of war in the country as the reason for his departure, but also that he has information from several sources that Crvena Zvezda offered him a contract of over two million dollars to join them.
"We are delighted to announce that Jonathan Motley has returned to the club. We warmly welcome him back and are confident that he will be fully committed to Hapoel from now on. Jonathan intends to pick up where he left off and give his all to the team. We look forward to his contribution as we continue forward together," said Janaj.
Hapoel is the rival of Budućnost Voli in group A of the Eurocup. It was Motley who was one of the best players of the Israeli team in the mutual duel played in Bulgaria - Podgorica lost 92:72, and the experienced center scored 30 points and seven rebounds.
