Basketball players from Podgorica suffered a convincing defeat last night on the road against Joker in the fifth round of group C of the NLB ABA2 league (81:62).
Podgorica already had a minus of 31 points at halftime (54:23), so it was clear that they would suffer a third defeat. Boško Radović's team has a score of 2-3, and in the last round they will host Pelister, who plays against Široki tonight.
"In the first half, we played something that is not called basketball. Something that is absolutely disrespectful to the game of basketball in every segment: offensively, defensively, whatever. It didn't look like basketball. Without responsibility, without energy, without anything that should to be on the field and play basketball. In the second half, as a reaction... I don't know what kind of reaction to talk about in a game that ended with a twenty-point difference," Podgorica coach Boško Radović was honest after the match.
Podgorica is still in the game for placement in the next phase.
"I congratulate Joker on an outstanding game. They started strongly from the beginning. They knew what they wanted and punished my team in every possible way in the first half. We turn to that last round, which, regardless of the result of the match between Široki and Pelister, will decide to the other passenger, i.e. the team that will pass the group. Let's move on, we're getting ready for Pelister," said Radović.
After five rounds, the Joker is maxed out.
"Honestly, I did not expect such an easy game and victory. We controlled the rebound and took this match very seriously, although the game was not significant for us as a result, because we already secured a place in the last round of the ABA 2 League. On the other hand, Podgorica was necessary victory", said the coach of the Sombor club, Vladimir Lučić.
