Red Star basketball players lost today on the away court against Olimpia from Milan 86:101 (15:23, 27:30, 23:26, 21:22), in the 13th round of the Euroleague.
The most effective in the Red Star team were Jago dos Santos with 17 points, Ajzeja Kenan with 14 points and Dejan Davidovac with 12 points.
In the Olimpija team, Nikola Mirotic was the most effective with 23 points, along with seven rebounds, Nikola Manion and Fabijan Kozer with 20 points each, and former Partizan player Zack Ledej with 14 points, along with seven rebounds, four steals and three assists. Crvena zvezda has six wins and seven losses, while Olimpija has a record of 7/6.
In the next round, Crvena Zvezda will play on the away field in Bologna against Virtus on Friday, while Olimpija will welcome Asvel on the same day.
Both teams struggled in attack at the beginning of the game, so the result after less than three minutes of the game was 2:2. Olimpija then made a 14:3 run with good defense and team play in attack and took a 16:5 lead with four minutes left in the first half.
The home team continued with a great game in defense, but Zvezda guard Ajseja Kenan managed to reduce Olimpia's lead to 23:15 at the end of the quarter by hitting threes in the last two attacks of his team in the first period. Zvezda retaliated with a 16:3 series, during which Olympia players mostly missed three-point shots, and reduced the home team's lead to 73:63 with a minute left in the third period.
The third quarter ended with a three-pointer with the sound of the siren by Olympia winger Fabian Kozer, for whom it was the fifth consecutive shot from the outside in the game, and the lead of the Italian club 79:65.
The beginning of the last part was quite even, so after three minutes of play Olimpija had a lead of 86:74.
The continuation of the duel was marked by much slower attacks by the players of Olympia, who managed to maintain the advantage at 96:76 with two minutes left in the game with good offensive solutions. Zvezda playmaker Miloš Teodosić was excluded from the game during this period for his second technical foul of the game.
Olympiakos basketball players won tonight on the away court of Monaco 89:80 (22:19, 25:26, 18:17, 24:18), in the match of the 13th round of the Euroleague.
Olympiakos was led to victory by Evan Fournier with 19 and Shaquille McKissick with 18 points, followed by Sasha Vezenkov and Nigel Williams-Goss with 14 points each.
The most effective player for Monaco was Alfa Diallo with 21 points, and Mike James also stood out with 10 points and 12 assists.
Olympiakos is second with nine wins and four losses, and Monaco is in fifth place with eight wins and five losses.
In the next round, Olympiakos will meet Paris in Athens, while Monaco will meet Alba.
It was Alba who came from behind in the derby, as they won away to Virtus - after extra time - 90:88 (78:78).
It is the third triumph of the club from Berlin, Virtus remained at two victories.
Clyburn was the most effective with 23 points in the home team, and Italian Gabriele Procida shone in the Alba jersey with 20 points, while McCormack recorded a double-double, 16 points and 14 rebounds.
