Partizan basketball players beat Panathinaikos 91:73 (20:20, 24:17, 20:12, 27:24) on their court in Belgrade in the 14th round of the Euroleague.
The most effective in the Partizan team were Karlik Jones with 18, Sterling Brown with 17, Isak Bonga with 13 and Tyrik Jones with 12 points.
In the team of Panathinaikos, the current champion of the Euroleague, the most effective were Kostas Slukas with 15, Juancho Hernangomes and Matias Lessor with 13 each and Kendrick Nunn with 12 points.
Partizan, for whom this is the fourth consecutive triumph in the Euroleague, has six wins and eight losses, while Panathinaikos has a score of 8/6.
In the next round, Partizan will play in Berlin against Alba, while Panathinaikos will play on the away field in Istanbul against Efes.
Both teams started the game with an excellent game in defense and with a lot of energy, and Partizan took a 9:5 lead with a three-pointer by Karlik Jones after four minutes of play.
The next period was marked by a better game in attack and on the jump of the players of Panathinaikos, who with a series of 13:4 gained an advantage of 18:13 with two minutes to the end of the first period.
In the last two minutes of the first quarter, the black and whites were led by Frank Nilikina, who with his five points helped his team make a 7:2 series and end the section with a 20:20 draw.
The second part started quite evenly, with a fast and fighting game on both sides, and the result after three minutes of the game was 28:25 in favor of Panathinaikos, after three free throws by the guard of the visiting team, Jerian Grant.
Partizan continued to find good solutions in the attack and equalized again, but Panathinaikos playmaker Kostas Slukas restored his team's lead 37:33 with four quick points two minutes before the end of the second quarter.
The end of the second half was marked by Partizan captain Vanja Marinković, who hit three three-pointers, the last of which was with the sound of the siren, giving his team a 44:37 lead at halftime.
At the beginning of the third quarter, Partizan continued with excellent shooting from the outside, and with three-pointers by Isak Bonga and Sterling Braun, gained the first double-digit lead in the game, 50:39 after three minutes of play.
In the next four minutes of the game, the black and whites mainly attacked through Dwayne Washington, who with his five points and an assist for Sterling Brown's three-pointer increased his team's lead to 60:46 with three minutes left in the third quarter.
Partizan managed to finish the third part with a good game in defense and rebounding with a lead of 15 points, 64:49. The black and whites went on a 5:0 run in the first minute of the game in the last quarter to gain a 20-point advantage, 69:49.
Panathinaikos with a quick 9:0 run, led by Kendrick Nan's five points, reduced Partizan's lead to 79:67 with four minutes left in the game.
Partizan managed to repel the onslaught of the visiting team and maintain a double-digit lead until the end of the game, in which they won 91:73.
