SC Derby was defeated for the fourth time in a row in the AdmiralBet ABA League - the current champion did not allow a surprise, it was not even realistic that it would happen because Podgorica were a real rival to Crvena Zvezda only in the first 20 minutes and in a good part of the last quarter.
In "Morača", the guests celebrated 89:81, and the winner was known in the third quarter when Zvezda scored a big plus 19 - 71:52 with a series of triples.
It was not in those moments that the coach of the "students" Petar Mijović was satisfied with the energy of his team at both ends of the floor, you could hear it during the time-out, because it looked as if Derby had surrendered - all of that was used by Jago dos Santos and Ajzea Kenan and conducted the "red-white" game...
After minus 17 after 30 minutes (71:54), the home team showed pride and played properly in the last period, four minutes to the end of the match they reached minus nine (82:73), then two minutes later to minus seven (85: 78), but the favorite had a ready answer to that as well...
Zvezda won "Morača" for the second time in the season, because in the 5th round they were better than Buducnost Voli.
Derby opened the game well and took an 8:2 lead before the rival caught the rush and turned it around, led by Nikola Kalinić.
The visitors had a plus 10 in the second period (28:18), but then the true reaction of the Podgorica team was seen, which turned the game around two and a half minutes before the break and took the lead 35:34 with Kalinić's points.
Zvezda, however, quickly retaliated, went into halftime with a 42:36 advantage, and then opened the third quarter furiously when they took a key lead for the ninth consecutive triumph in the ABA League.
Luka Bogavac played spectacularly, he had 23 points with four three-pointers from six shots, David Mirković had a double-double performance - 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jago dos Santos (17) was the most effective in Zvezda.
The derby is now 4-8, but next Saturday, Cedevita will host Olimpija.
