Crvena zvezda basketball players won on their court against city rival Partizan 89:84 (23:26, 27:25, 23:21, 16:12), in the 13th round of the regional AdmiralBet ABA league.
Belgrade's "eternal rivals" now have the same effect at the top as the Montenegrin champion Budućnost Voli.
The most effective in the Red Star team were Joel Bolomboj with 14 points, Nikola Kalinic with 13 points and Nemanja Nedović with 12 points.
In the Partizan team, Karlik Jones was the most effective with 19 points, along with seven assists, Sterling Brown with 18 points, and Brandon Davis and Isaiah Mike with 15 points each, while Tyreek Jones recorded seven points and 12 rebounds.
During the second quarter, Partizan managed to reach a nine-point advantage (41:32), but Zvezda found its attacking rhythm and managed to reduce the lead of the black and whites to 42:41 with three minutes left in the quarter.
Zvezda center Filip Petrushev was suspended from the game for a minute before the end of the second period, for kicking the ball after scoring a basket.
Before the break, Partizan led 51:50.
After a long time, Zvezda took the lead 56:54 after less than two minutes of play in the third quarter with triples by Nedović and Dejan Davidovac.
The first half of the match brought an even game, it was played very combatively and firmly on both sides, and Zvezda led 82:81 with three minutes left in the game.
The end of the game was marked by a lot of mistakes and turnovers on both sides.
The black-and-whites failed to get the ball five seconds after the time-out in the last minute with Zvezda leading 83:82, Kalinic hit two important free throws later, and Partizan's last attack ended with a lost ball when taking it out of the box, so Zvezda celebrated 89:84.
