Another defeat in the AdmiralBet ABA League, the 15th this season - Mornar lost tonight in "Morača" in the 16th round against Buducnost Voli 110:79.
Tonight after the first quarter, the Rams had a 24-point deficit (33:9) and it was already clear that they would record another defeat.
"I congratulate Buducnost on a more than deserved victory. The match started with two teams that are in completely different conditions. And in the announcement I said that Buducnost is playing great, and the last games showed that. On the other side, a team came out that was not even close at all There are certainly a lot of factors - I want to take every defeat on my back, because we played the game against Igokea earlier than we should have time, and unfortunately we shouldn't have it. We consciously made a plan, because we have a difficult schedule this month, and I accept that this was the reason for this start. If you look at the result, the game was over after the first quarter. We didn't exist on the field and the penalty came immediately. I accept that my mistake with that rest, which I gave to the players, was caused by that," said the coach after the match. Sailor Mihailo Pavićević.
Pavićević did not stop there.
"You have to pay the players heavily and beg them and give them the chance they want. And that's something that I, as a coach of an old age and as a former player, can never understand. We also played basketball - both for less money and for, so the coach never told us why you didn't fight, why you didn't do your best. These are some new generations, more computer-oriented, where they are not aware that they have the privilege of playing for abnormally large amounts of money I told the locker room that they should be ashamed of receiving this much money, and the doctors in hospitals, who save lives, can only dream of that money. Unfortunately, this is what hurts me the most in the last years of coaching. You bring a player, it's expensive you pay, and I have to find reasons for him to do his best. That's incomprehensible to me. That's what hurts me the most tonight," Pavićević said.
He cited two examples from tonight's game when it comes to the willpower factor.
"I'll give two examples. One was in the first quarter - Kamenjaš ran a counterattack after a basket, was the first on the counterattack and scored a basket. In the fourth quarter, Omić, at the age of 32, ran a counterattack after a basket and was the first to score a basket. This is about the willpower, whether you have it or not," explained Pavićević.
The Mariners' coach once again spoke highly of tonight's rival.
"The future, with this kind of game, is a serious candidate for a high ranking in both competitions," Pavićević said.
Mornar remained at one victory, Cibona has two, and Krka, which defeated Mega in Belgrade today (94:87), four. Pavićević just commented on today's match between Mega and Krka.
"We have to start winning, nobody can play for us. I didn't even know about that result, but it's not a surprise to me when it comes to the Mega team and their owners. So much for me," Pavićević concluded.
