The victory against Hapoel in the Eurocup will be talked about, but just three days later, the basketball players of Buducnost Voli must defend their position at the top of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
The "blue and white" will have a new challenge in the regional competition in the city of the former European champion - Buducnost will play away against Split on Saturday at 17 pm.
"And this game comes after a tough match in the Eurocup, so I think approach is more important than tactics and other things," said Andrej Žakelj, coach of Buducnost.
The Montenegrin champion is on a seven-game winning streak in the ABA League, while in the last nine games they have only been defeated by Bahçeşehir in the Eurocup.
"Of course, I expect the access to be maximum, but energy will be a bit of a problem after everything these days. The first thing is that heads have to be in place," added Žakelj.
Split recently changed coaches, with Veljko Mrsic replacing Slaven Rimac.
"Split is always an unpleasant opponent, especially on home soil. With the change of coach, the players will certainly react with more commitment and energy. I expect a tough game, but we have to do everything to be maximally focused and win the game," the Slovenian expert is clear.
The hero of the victory against Hapoel was Fletcher Magee, who, when it seemed that the Israelis would surely celebrate in "Morača", first stole the ball on defense, then hit a three-pointer, and then was sure from the free throw line to win...
"We know it's always difficult when playing in Split, several good players wear the jersey of that club, and a new coach recently arrived... We'll watch a few clips to see how much they've adapted, but we know the squad from before and I think we'll be ready," said the great three-pointer from Orlando.
Buducnost has won 24 of the 16 games against Split so far, with the "Gripe" always being difficult, so the host still leads 6-5 at home.
